tennis tip 3

Do you have trouble with mishits occasionally? You know those shots that don't hit the sweetspot and hit the frame. The truth is we all mishit, even Federer on rare occasion.
When players mishit, usually they think their eyesight is lousy and they're not staying focused on the ball. But, the real reason for the mishit may be your head and not your eyes. Research has shown that when a player looks up(and moves the head) to see where his shot is going before impact it causes the racquet to move(for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction) and therefore you hit the frame or off center.
To hit better more consistent shots be patient as you complete the stroke. Strive to keep your head down until you feel your hitting shoulder or upper arm come up under the chin.
Find some keywords that will help you keep your head still as your stroking. You can make up your own. Here are some phrases I've used:
1.) Don't look until the shoulder hits the chin
2.) Don't track my shot until I hear the ball hit the racquet
3.) Don't look until the hitting crosses in front of the body
4.) Count one thousand one after you hit the ball then look
I think Roger Federer is probably the best ever at keeping the head nice and still. Many times you'll see photos of him and he's well through the shot yet his eyes and head are still looking at the impact area.
You can do the same thing to improve the quality of your shots.
